Fistful of Metal – Fistful of
Deceit?
Over the years I became an avid reader of UK
Rock and Metal Magazines. Rock Candy (despite its silly name my favourite and
now sadly discontinued), Classic Rock and the one I write about here, Fistful
of Metal. As we all know Britains Brexit brought some changes in trading with
all things UK, however no matter which mag I purchased the price always was as
stated in the Order with no additional costs whatsoever.
Until the day I thought it might
be a good idea to order an issue of Fistful of Metal featuring a Slayer
Coverstory. Paid 14 Euro for it only to find out at the Post Office that I had
to pay another 10,50 € for tax and handling charges. I refused,so the mag went
back to the Sender.
As I found out the matter with
additional costs depend on whether the publisher takes part in IOSS
Registration or not which Rock Candy and Classic Rock obviously do and FoM does
not (or no more as I bought one or the other issue already and never had
additional costs to pay).
Now UK companies are free to
register or not and according to European Law are obliged to show a remark of
possible additional costs during order process. Problem is, according to UK
Laws they are not, so FoM didn´t show anything.
What I ask myself is why not
showing such a remark for European Customers? Speculating on turnover for
nothing when the recipient refuses to pay additional costs so they get the mag
back and keep the money? Of course they haven´t even replied to my mail asking
for a possible refund, so I have paid 14€ for nothing.
Hey there at Fistful of Metal –
why don´t you just say we have no interest at all in selling our mag in Europe?
Are you happy with the money I (and certainly others, too) have paid without
any return service? Hope you suffocate on it.
So all you guys reading this –
Hands off Fistful of Metal if you don´t want to pay a staggering 25,--€ for it
and support a mag who doesn´t give a Fuck about european customers.
Or to speak with Warrel Dane’s
intruduction to „Taste Revenge“ on the Live-CD attached to „Into the Mirror
Black“:
„If somebody fucks you over, fuck
them back!“
